When I was born, and my human pet came to save me from horrendous living arrangements (aka, shelter), she was told I was "broken" because I never (and I do mean never!) stopped purring.
In fact, to this day, I purr nearly nonstop. The only time I may take a break from purring is when I sleep.
I don't think it's possible for a purr-thingy to break. I run mine at top speed whenever I'm sitting by Mom and it's still working great after almost 3 years!
Purrs are good. :) I don't think it's possible to purr too much. Moms just like to tease us cuz they're jealous they don't have purr thingies. (Don't tell Mom I let her secret out tho.)
I don't know. I hope not. But I have a really tiny purr. Mom usually has to put her ear real close to hear it. My bro, on the other paw, is like a buzz saw. You can hear him from another room! His has been working for 16 years, so it doesn't seem as if a purr-thingy could break.
Norton has been purring purrty much non-stop for almost 18 years. The only time he doesn't purr is when he's asleep. we only purr when we are cuddled up wif someone. I don't know if you can break it or not, but that would be horrible. Mommy says she had a kitty that NEVER purred, no matter what.
I am in charge here. I used to weigh 17 pounds, but now I'm a lean and mean 14 pounds 'cause I have to eat prescription food. I had stones in my tummy that the doctor had to take out and now I can't eat any of the things I love that my mom used to give me like shrimp and cod. Sigh. But, I lead a pretty nice life.
I'm a DLH Tuxedo with sparkly greenish yellow eyes and loooong whiskers. I'm also a member of the Tuxedo Gang.

Be careful, Edsel...you never know!

I don't think it's possible to break your purr-thing. No I don't think so. No. It's not possible. Is it?
My older sister Sasha was a LOUD purrer. Never hurt her. I think she even purred herself to sleep at night. I purr softer. But mama loves me too.
Purring loud may just be cause your extra happy???? I don't think purrs ever hurt you, if they are loud or soft.
They are purrs. They are happy sounds!
I don't thinks you can break it either. Which is a good thing.

My mom says I never stop purring, except when I sleep...at which time I begin snoring.
I think she's crazy! A lady never snores, but then again, I don't think I've ever been considered a "lady."
Awesome. :)
